World
Heritage Nikko was inscribed on
the World Heritage List of the Convention Concerning
the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
In December 1999, Nikko was inscribed on the List as
the 10th site in Japan. The 103 buildings of Toshogu,
Rinnoji and Futara-san with their surrounding natural
settings were inscribed on it. We would like to feel proud of Nikko being
inscribed on the List and keep Nikko as it is for good.

You can see the 3 monkey-carvings
on the panels of Shinkyo sha, Sacred Stable. You can also
enjoy a lot of carvings of animals and birds, such as
deer, rabbits, tigers, swallows!! They are very pretty.
